Next Event Charoen Chai Moon Festival
and Photography Walk
For more information click on the picture to be directed to our Facebook Event Page
Join us for a photogenic walking tour to the unique Charoen Chai community. The Community which sits next to the MRT Station Wat Mangkon, celebrates the Chinese Moon Festival which has been described by the locals as the Thanks Giving of the Chinese. It's the last community in Bangkok that celebrates this ancient Chinese Festival in such copious manner.
Unfortunately we don't know whether September 13th is going to be the last time this festival is being held as the community is threatened with eviction to make way for development.
As such we would like to raise awareness and celebrate the beauty of our diverse cultural heritage by organizing a photography walk in the afternoon which will end at the community festival. Additionally, Michael Biedassek is planning to give a presentation and shares his thoughts and observations on the condition, threats and opportunities for heritage preservation. Anybody who like to share his or her view on the development of Bangkok, please let us know beforehand via email to email@example.com
It will be a day full of discovery, exchanges and new friends as we celebrate the living history, cultures and communities in our hope that they will have their place in the future of our city.
